The Secret to A Detox Plan Level-Up

Sometimes, you get too full of the internet’s buzz about detox– green smoothies and salads, water recipes, DIY body wraps, detox baths and massages, the list goes on. If you have already started them, then that’s good news. But detox does not necessarily stop there. There is a secret way to bringing your detox to an entirely new level, a detox plan level-up. With this, you do not only add twists to your detox plan, you also help maximize the effects and accelerate the process of detox in your body.

What we are talking about is exfoliation. While many see exfoliation as only a beauty treatment, studies have proved its pros as a health treatment today. Better health is the bigger benefit that comes from embracing a practice of exfoliation.

In a nutshell, to exfoliate is to remove the oldest dead and flaky skin cells from the surface of your skin. It is a simple process that involves gentle abrasion, which opens clogged pores and helps the skin to breathe. With the skin being the largest organ in the body and one of the key components of the body’s built-in detoxification system, it is logical that what happens in the body is reflected through the skin. Therefore, by assisting one of the skin’s natural functions, you will be better off for it.

To exfoliate, you can:

1. Do dry brushing.

Dry brushing is an easy daily practice that requires one simple tool and about 2 minutes of time. Plan to dry brush before you shower so that your skin gets washed clean of toxins afterwards.

The primary purpose of dry brushing is moving the lymphatic system. Always brush upward from the feet to the legs and groin, from fingers up the arms to shoulders, all moving towards the heart. Then the chest, back and stomach, continuously moving in a circular motion. Avoid brushing the face with the harsh dry brush that is used for the body. A more delicate approach can be used on the face.

2. Practice towel scrubbing.

Towel scrubbing is a detoxification practice that is used by those who follow the practices of macrobiotics. Towel scrubbing only requires a small towel and hot water. Knowing that it will dislodge toxins, it should also be done before bathing.

To towel scrub, dip a small cotton towel or washcloth in hot water and wring it out. Then scrub the body all over in small firm motions, including hands and feet. Rinse the towel periodically to reheat it, as the temperature is important to help open pores. Macrobiotic practitioners say that the hot towel practice opens pores, releases stored toxins, softens deposits of hard fat below the skin and allows excess fat, mucus, cellulites nd toxins to be released.

Cleansed pores and plump skin bring out vibrant and glowing complexion. Exfoliation also stimulates the skin, increasing blood flow and circulation to the surrounding tissues and helps to move the lymphatic system. Remember, what is seen in the outside is also a reflection of what is going on inside! So, be beautiful inside and out! Bring your detox plan to a new level today!
